General Questions
What is Bamba?

Bamba is a data collection technology company that specializes in finding specific, often hard-to-find people for companies looking to collect data and carry out research through surveys. Our clients operate across many industries, including Market Research, Education, Health, Government, Infrastructure, and Retail.
We focus on building great relationships with our survey participant recruits by offering incentives and perks as a thank-you for the time and information they offer so that we can bring their voices, thoughts and opinions to our clients. This information can then be used by businesses, governments and other organizations operating in emerging markets to help them better meet the needs of people in these regions.

Why should I become a Bamba participant?

Becoming a panel participant comes with a number of different types of perks, including mobile airtime and other rewards. Participating on these panels involves completing different types of surveys, which ultimately will allow you to voice your ideas and opinions on a variety of issues in a way that will help shape your local environment, your country, and the products and services you use on a day-to-day basis.

Is participating free?

Yes, participating in our web and SMS surveys is free. If your mobile airtime is deducted for SMS surveys, you will receive a refund of your airtime and often also receive an additional incentive upon completing the survey.

When will my airtime credit get delivered?

In most cases, you will receive your mobile airtime within a few seconds of completing your survey. In some circumstances, it may take up to 24 hours to receive your airtime. Please contact us if you have not recieved your mobile airtime after a 24 hour period.

Participating in Surveys
How can I participate in surveys on Bamba?

Look for Bamba advertisements in your local newspapers, or on local billboards. Follow us on Facebook too as we advertise a lot of our surveys there. If you'd like to register to participate in future surveys that are relevant to you, sign up here.

How long does it take to complete a survey?

Surveys can take as little as 5 minutes, but can be longer depending on the specific survey. They rarely will take more than 30 minutes, and most are shorter.

Will Bamba try to sell me something?

No, Bamba does not try to sell anything to panel registrants. We will only use your registration information to send you surveys to participate in, and you can opt-out anytime.

Why am I being notified that the survey is full when I just received the invitation a short time ago?

Bamba surveys are popular! When we reach the quota of responses we need, we turn the survey off. But don't worry, the next survey will be just around the corner. Just stay tuned!

Why does Bamba ask so many questions in surveys?

We like to be thorough so that the information we gather accurately represents your thoughts and opinions - this ensures that your voice will be correctly represented, and that our clients will be able to make decisions that benefit you, as well as themselves.

Sometimes it seems as though I've answered a lot of questions only to find out I don't qualify for the whole survey. Why?

Sometimes we're looking for specific people to collect information from. For example, we may be looking to gather information from people that fall within a particular country or age-range, or that have participated in a specific government program in the last year; the criteria can sometimes be very specific.
In order to find out if you meet those criteria, we sometimes have to ask several questions. If you don't meet all the criteria, it just means that you fall outside of the group of people that survey was designed to collect information from.
But that's okay - stay tuned and you may qualify for the next one!

What happens to my answers when I don't qualify for a survey?

We use the information you provide to automatically identify new surveys that you are likely to qualify for. When we find that you pre-qualify for another survey based on your answers you've given in the past, we'll make sure that you are among the first people to have the opportunity to participate in the survey.

Why does Bamba keep asking the same questions in almost every survey?

We don't always survey the same people. You may have answered a question a few times, but for other people it may be their first survey with Bamba. Also, it helps us ensure that our data is consistent and we haven't made a mistake in interpreting your responses.

Why does it take longer to receive credit for some surveys than others?

We try our best to ensure that your credit is received instantly, but sometimes we can't because of restrictions and rules of specific telecommunications service providers. We keep an eye on this and ensure that failed transactions are retried as soon as possible, and continue trying until the transactions successfully go through.

What if I have technical difficulties with a survey, and why does this happen?

Due to technical glitches that sometimes happen across mobile networks, your SMS message occasionally may get interpreted twice, and this can create interruptions to the data collection process. If this happens, and you'd like to redo the survey, please contact us at info@bambagroup.com and let us know. We'll clear your answers so you can start again.
